After Hugh left the service he became a New York City detective and held that position for 22 years. He was an investigator for the United Nations. He also received a degree in alcohol and substance abuse and was a Director for many drug and alcohol abuse residences until his retirement in 2008. He is author of BETRAYAL: A JFK Honor Guard Speaks.
