WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARD SENATOR LANDRIEU? Is Reid racist because he used the word "negro", or because his comments denigrated another race? If it's the former, then it's a minor infraction having more to do with being out of touch with modern linguistic conventions. If it's the latter, then I think this author is out of touch with modern cultural and political reality. As I see it, all evidence points to Reid being absolutely correct. What if Reid had said that Obama had no chance because he wasn't dark skinned and didn't casually speak in a negro dialect? Before you could make any claims of racism, you would first have to acknowledge that he was wrong.
