U.S. Congressman Steve Scalise
(R-Metairie) has been very vocal in his criticism of the Obama administration’s
handling of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Scalise believes that President
Obama should direct the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to give immediate approval
to the plan of local leaders to build a series of barrier islands to protect
the marshes from the advancing oil. Scalise says the President “won’t act” even
though he has the authority to approve the project. Scalise says that in
dealing with this crisis, the President “talks like John Wayne” but acts more
like “Pee Wee Herman.”
