In the next several weeks, a new political party will be formalized in Louisiana. It will be called the Christian Party and the organizers say it will be focused on applying the teachings of Jesus Christ to the political process.

The driving force behind the movement is Vincent Bruno, a member of the Republican Executive Committee of Jefferson Parish. Bruno has recruited a group of prominent pastors who will officially announce their involvement in the party in the next several weeks. At the present time, Bruno and the pastors are encouraging voters to switch their political affiliation to the Christian Party. To become an official political party in Louisiana, the Christian Party will need 1,000 signatures. Bruno believes the group will achieve their goal in a few weeks. He said they just started working on the project and “have already collected 300 signatures.” According to Bruno, the Christian Party will advocate placing “God back in government.” He cites advocating prayer in public schools and protecting the unborn as two of the many issues the party will address.

Bruno says he was “inspired by the success of the tea party movement.” While the tea party focuses on fiscal and constitutional issues, the Christian Party will place a greater emphasis on the social issues and on “following Christ.” This effort is not totally unique for there is an official Christian Party organization in California and another one was started in Great Britain. Bruno says that the party’s board of directors will be “very diverse and include leaders from many different segments of society.” One of the first goals of the party will be to field candidates in upcoming elections. In the race for the second congressional district seat this fall, the Christian Party will support the candidacy of Reverend Anthony Marquize, who is the foreign missions Pastor for the White Dove Fellowship in Harvey, LA.

So form the party already! Wait until the IRS
investigate their almighty tax status. What they really want
is to legislate behavior, personal and private. They'll be laughed at and not taken serious, like the anti-gay Republicans
who turned out to be anything but straight!

While I don't favor a political party steeped in religion, this might be a good thing. If religious conservative move to this party and out of the Republican party, then the Republican party can maintain its primary focus on personal freedoms and limited gov't involvement in our private lives. I am not a Democrat or a Republican. In fact, I do not subscribe to the beliefs of any one political party. If anything, my beliefs are more alinged with libertarian ideals, but ultimately, my beliefs are my own.

I wish people would read the Constitution.
There's a "separation" of Church and State,
which is why, we are a country of many religions,
some not even involved with a God for that matter.
I am a registered Democrat, since 1965. I can't imagine
being a Republican, so I joined the Coffee Party, the antidote
to the Tea-Baggers.
